I haven't received any disability in almost three months. I am starving. I have arthritis in my spine and right hip so its very painful to walk the long distances to places that feed people. I should receive a check on November 1st. At least I hope so. Any amount of money would be greatly appreciated. Please help. I have not received a donation from anyone on any of the websites I have been on except www.Qambio.com and they are making it so hard to collect I haven't been able to receive the $50 someone donated to me. Please help if you can.
Thank you,
Arthur
I can't take it anymore. The little b.i.t.c.h. (very young) on the other end of the phone said (and she was being mean) she could help me find a homeless shelter. She said I didn't pay my debts therefore I didn't deserve a break. She actually said that. I've had enough. I can't go any lower. I feel lower than whale s.h.i.t. as it is. When I first got disability I thought at last I can survive without doing hard labor that was causing me tremendous pain. This has been more painful than working ever was. I am physically unable to work in construction now. I can't get a job that pays more than disability. I have no options. I didn't know the VA could be so cruel. They could at least leave me half of it. Then I would have a chance to survive.
You have been the only person that has helped me. Please tell Phil Kraft he is an angel. I know there is only so much they can do. He has paid so much I can not pay them back. I desperately need peace. I don't sleep. My depression is getting worse and worse. I am so tired.
Arthur
Try these people:
Joseph Willard Health Center 3750 Old Lee Highway, Fairfax, VA, 22030 703-246-7100
Herndon/Reston Office: 1850 Cameron Glen Drive, Suite 100, Reston, VA 22090 703-481-4242
Mount Vernon Office: 8350 Richmond highway, Suite 233, Alexandria, VA 22309 703-704-6181
Can she apply for medicade? Call the local county health department and they may be able to help. If I had any money I would give but I am a disabled veteran with nothing. The best I can come up with is the county health department. They do a lot of good things here in Palm Beach Florida. Try them. You have nothing to lose.

They can and will take it all and leave you with nothing.

If your disability is not service connected you get $910.00 a month (This is what I get). If it is service connected then it is around $2600. It sounds like your disability was determined to be not service connected. If you think it was service connected then you need to have it changed. I am not sure how you go about changing it to service connected.

I posted this once but I can't see it so here goes again.
Call Phil Kraft of the National Veterans Service Fund at (800)521-0198. They paid my rent and my phone bill last month. I hope I am in a position to donate to them someday.
Good Luck,
Art
They already did it. The Internal Revenue can and will take any federal assistance you get to pay a federal debt. They already took my income tax return and have informed me they are taking my next two disability checks. There is nothing I can do.

One of the best places you can go for grants is http://www.hud.gov . There is a tremendous amount of information about grants there. Almost all of the grants you are eligible for are handled by your local community development offices. They are the ones that will help you find and apply for grants. This is a good place to start: http://www.workforcepartnersin oregon.org/ . Good luck,

Hi Elaine,
I have a very painful disk buldge at L5-S1 in my lower back. The pain radiates to my right hip. I am on Methadone for pain and even that doesn't control it very well. My doctor had me on morphine but it wasn't strong enough. I just had surgery on my right shoulder rotator cuff. It was torn all the way across. I have mental problems that include severe depression, anxiety attacks, Obsesive Compulsive Disorder, and childhood PTSD. I do ok most of the time but the depression seems to get worse as the pain in my back gets worse. All of this is documented in my medical records.
Thanks,
Art
It's her job to collect. And she tries to collect as much as possible. She didn't come out and say she didn't care if I went homeless but when I told her I would be homeless she said the IRS would take my check and give it to the VA regardless of my situation. She pressed pretty hard to get me to give the VA all I had though. The IRS already took a $1200 tax return and gave it to the VA in Biloxi, MS. I had no warning of that. Part of this is my fault also. I freeze up from anxiety attacks and I stick my head in the sand hoping it will all go away. I know thats not rational but as I said I have mental problems. I don't want to get anyone in trouble I just want to get the government paid off so I can try to live on $910 a month without worrying someone is going to take it.

I need a grant to pay all my debts to the government. I need to pay my VA copays (around $2500) and my back taxes (around $1500). I can make it if I can get the government to leave my disability check alone.

They said they had nothing to do with payment of copays. I have to deal with the VA payment collection people myself. My social worker also said there was nothing she could do either. She wouldn't even help me fill out a waiver request. The VA collection person pretty much demanded I pay everything I had in the bank and didn't care if I kept enough to eat on or pay my rent. She also said the VA would get their money whether I went homeless or not. It wasn't a threat it was a statement. I'm not a crying man but I left the office crying that day. I don't look forward to living in the bushes. I have physical and mental problems. The anxiety attacks are getting worse the closer I get to losing my disability check. I already pay West Palm Beach $50 a month but last month I didn't have the $50 left over after paying my rent and my phone bill and keeping enough to eat on. I got tired of not eating. Last month I said screw 'em I'm going to eat this month. I know the phone is not a necessity but there is not a phone near where I live except a pay phone about 4 blocks away. I use my phone to make appointments at the VA and to talk to my doctors. I live in an extremely high crime area and I am afraid to use the pay phone. I get very confused. I don't know what to do. I attempted suicide 2 months ago but someone found me before I suceeded. I need help. Money help mostly to get out of debt to the government.
I went to the VSO and the girl there said there was nothing she could do. I had to work it out with the VA myself. I will go tomorrow and try again. I asked for a waiver but the debt has to be less that 120 days old. They will not waiver anything older. I have about $2500 over 120 days old(some 4 years old) between 3 VA hospitals. I also owe the IRS about $1400. They will take my disability check soon also. I just don't know exactly when yet. The stress is killing me.
Thanks,
Art
