another concern . i have been reading the posting on this, you can not travel anywhere to get food because of an injury that is sustained, which would indicate that you have internet service and a computer, i dont understand if you are starving how can you afford this?.. I have had to prioritize and the only reason i have internet is because I have to have it for  my 2nd job, as i work from home.. help me help you cause I dont understand???

I have seen starving, children as well as adults that do not have a home, nor a penny to feed their families... this just does not look like starving to me, but.. if I did live close to you, I would cook for you and bring you food so you would not go without.. again I am not criticizing here, I feel bad for your situation.. and I do wish I could help, I guess I have been scammed way too many times to believe that someone who has access to the internet or have a computer could be starving... so sorry.. i wish you luck though

i am concerned a bit on this posting.  if you can't eat, how can you get to a computer, also to have a paypal account, you have to have a bank account and a credit/debit card. I am not criticizing here, but I work 2 jobs, and I am a single mother of 4 kids. I do not make enough money to live with my 4 kids, and my 2 sons live with my parents, and my 2 daughters live with me, but if I could not afford to eat, I surely would not be able to afford a checking account and/or paypal, or internet.. Sorry for the confusion, I just do not get it.  There are a lot of places, including soup kitchens where you can get a warm meal.

Hi I found a way to make money online and i want more people to know about it. There are literally 100s of freebie sites out there all offering consumers the chance to earn free products A user signs up at a freebie site, and needs to complete a "sponsor offer". These are usually some type of a trial or other no-obligation offer from a large company such as AOL, Blockbuster, NetFlix, Video Professor, etc. Some of the offers are completely free, but oftentimes the user must pay a small shipping and handling or other fee. Then the user must refer a handful of friends to the site who do the same thing. these promos are absolutely legit. They are not "scams" As part of their promotions they introduce consumers to various advertisers' products and services, and in return they are paid a commission for each new "lead" they generate. This is how they make money and can afford to give away free products and still make a profit for themselves. Some of them actually make quite a bit of money. For example, they might earn $50 each time they refer a new user to AOL even though the user only signed up for a free trial and didn't pay anything at all. I started about 4 months ago on this site ( http://treatsforyou.com) and i have earned enough to pay my bills. It is not big bucks, but enough. You can make about $60 a day. All you have to do is be a referral and complete offers. The best thing about this site is that you don't need your credit card to complete those offers. So that means you spend NOTHING BUT GET PAID IN RETURN. Once you have complete the offers and received credits for it, you get paid through paypal.. If you need more infomations, you can: Email: djeumoe@yahoo.com, djeumoe@hotmail.com, rijoh2003@gmail.com AIM ( lizyjones). Thank You Have a great day. ps: take a look at this site and decide for yourself. http://treatsforyou.com

Don't pay any money to those websites that claim you can make money by working at home. Most of them are scams.

I can't take it anymore. The little b.i.t.c.h. (very young) on the other end of the phone said (and she was being mean) she could help me find a homeless shelter. She said I didn't pay my debts therefore I didn't deserve a break. She actually said that. I've had enough. I can't go any lower. I feel lower than whale s.h.i.t. as it is. When I first got disability I thought at last I can survive without doing hard labor that was causing me tremendous pain. This has been more painful than working ever was. I am physically unable to work in construction now. I can't get a job that pays more than disability. I have no options. I didn't know the VA could be so cruel. They could at least leave me half of it. Then I would have a chance to survive. You have been the only person that has helped me. Please tell Phil Kraft he is an angel. I know there is only so much they can do. He has paid so much I can not pay them back. I desperately need peace. I don't sleep. My depression is getting worse and worse. I am so tired. Arthur

Arthur, You have not tried everything. There is more. Think about the message you are sending. It may look bad, but you have every right to be here and must try harder. You have purpose for more than just yourself. See link below for legal resource to help secure a reevaluation and increase in VA benefits and access to SSD. You are not a quitter!

Hi, I do not not for sure WHY the rules does not apply to the VA, however, I speculate it is because they are the Federal Government. Just like one cannot bankrupt against student loans that are by the federal government, or the VA housing loan or the IRS. When it come to the FED's they are under a whole different set of rules. These laws are normally not in favor of the average person. It's ashame it is this way. Have a good and blessed night, ekikaseven

First of all they CANNOT take your SSD - NOR can they THREATEN To take it either! What they are doing is ILLEGAL. I don;t care if they are from the VA or Timbuktu - you have rights. The next time they try that crap take their name, number and any other info you can get and call the state atty general and blow them in. You are protected BY LAW not only as a VET, but also as a citizen, and you are covered by the Social Security Act, the Fair debt collection practice act (FDCPA) and Mental Health laws. I am including some links for organizations that may help advocate for you.

Dear Art: I have just spoken with a pro bono legal services representative assisting veterans in opening disability claims. And much to my surprise and disappointment, he has enlightened me that the law does allow for total seizure of income to pay outstanding debt to the VA. It truly saddens me to witness this practice of debt collection at all costs, which creates even more hardships for our veterans. The only way to make an impact to change these barbarian means of enforced payment is to make the public aware of this and to contact the US Senate's Veterans Service Committee about these SOP's which put so many veterans at risk of becoming homeless. So please pass this on. I for one, will be writing them regarding this disgraceful means of debt collection.

It is ONLY her job to collect using LEGAL AND ETHICAL practices. GOD FORBID she have any COMPASSION for a DISABLED VETERAN! She probably gets paid on commission and you may only be a number to her but to many others you are a veteran who has served this country and deserves some RESPECT!

It's her job to collect. And she tries to collect as much as possible. She didn't come out and say she didn't care if I went homeless but when I told her I would be homeless she said the IRS would take my check and give it to the VA regardless of my situation. She pressed pretty hard to get me to give the VA all I had though. The IRS already took a $1200 tax return and gave it to the VA in Biloxi, MS. I had no warning of that. Part of this is my fault also. I freeze up from anxiety attacks and I stick my head in the sand hoping it will all go away. I know thats not rational but as I said I have mental problems. I don't want to get anyone in trouble I just want to get the government paid off so I can try to live on $910 a month without worrying someone is going to take it.

Art: Who is doing the collection for the VA which demanded whatever you had in bank? Send me her name, the company she works for and the company address and phone number if you have it. Also please post your situation and subsequent events of debt collection ensued by the VA to your elected officials on the links sent earlier. You can't be the only vet dealing with this and you need to be heard!

They said they had nothing to do with payment of copays. I have to deal with the VA payment collection people myself. My social worker also said there was nothing she could do either. She wouldn't even help me fill out a waiver request. The VA collection person pretty much demanded I pay everything I had in the bank and didn't care if I kept enough to eat on or pay my rent. She also said the VA would get their money whether I went homeless or not. It wasn't a threat it was a statement. I'm not a crying man but I left the office crying that day. I don't look forward to living in the bushes. I have physical and mental problems. The anxiety attacks are getting worse the closer I get to losing my disability check. I already pay West Palm Beach $50 a month but last month I didn't have the $50 left over after paying my rent and my phone bill and keeping enough to eat on. I got tired of not eating. Last month I said screw 'em I'm going to eat this month. I know the phone is not a necessity but there is not a phone near where I live except a pay phone about 4 blocks away. I use my phone to make appointments at the VA and to talk to my doctors. I live in an extremely high crime area and I am afraid to use the pay phone. I get very confused. I don't know what to do. I attempted suicide 2 months ago but someone found me before I suceeded. I need help. Money help mostly to get out of debt to the government.

Art: What VSO told you there wasn't anyting they could do? Was that someone in the Veterans Administration or an outside VSO like VFW, AMVETS? I find it impossible to believe they would not work out a payment arrangement and try to take your entire check. That is Outrageous. Post this plea for help to your nearest representative on the armed services committee. See links:

I do not know the exact criteria for access to the following link, but recall seing a statement "if you have over 5,000.00 in medical debt", so I do not know for sure if they could help but it wouldn't hurt to ask. See following link found on Soulight's pages. Also if you want to private message me what your illness/disability is, perhaps there are funds specific to the disorder which may be accessible. I went to the VSO and the girl there said there was nothing she could do. I had to work it out with the VA myself. I will go tomorrow and try again. I asked for a waiver but the debt has to be less that 120 days old. They will not waiver anything older. I have about $2500 over 120 days old(some 4 years old) between 3 VA hospitals. I also owe the IRS about $1400. They will take my disability check soon also. I just don't know exactly when yet. The stress is killing me. Thanks, Art
